This post is all about network marketing.
Joining a network marketing company is an amazing and fun opportunity but the tricky part is that you are still on your own.
Have you ever felt this way?
When people are around you at an event it is easy to get excited and feel energized to do the work.
Yet when you get home, you feel like you are dragging your feet to grow your business.
Then you add a little social media distraction (full of unrealistic standards of perfection) and you have a recipe for feeling stuck, procrastinating, and being unproductive.
My husband and I have seen so many dealing with this- especially when we launched our own company and work with everyone no matter what team they are on.
We see people with amazing goals and intentions (not to mention tons of talent) get stuck because of this.
After working with coaching clients in over 20 countries and growing my email list to over 100,000 email subscribers, I am so excited to share with you today what works so you can achieve your goals too!
The key to growing your network marketing business is to develop habits that will help you move forward when you don’t feel like it.
There are a ton of other habits out there that will also help you like going to sleep on time, workout, get fresh air, etc.
The following are habits to help build on those and they are focused on keeping you on track with income-producing activities.
Whether you can start these network marketing habits one at a time or all at once, you are still moving forward and you should be very proud of yourself!
1- Learn all the benefits- not just the features
I personally find it so hard to memorize things like scripts in order to grow my business. It doesn’t feel authentic.
Imagine leaving a restaurant with a pamphlet with scripts on how to recommend the restaurant to others.
That would be so extra and we would all roll our eyes at it.
Yet so many well-intentioned entrepreneurs memorize every last ingredient on a product before talking about it.
I have ZERO problem with competent people knowing the facts about what they promote.
But your customer is not interested in all that.
They want to know:
- why it matters
- why should I take action now and not ignore this
- how it worked for you
- why do you like
- how has it worked for others
- is it easy to use
- will it improve my life
Notice I didn’t write “what is the price” or “what is the barcode number” as part of the list of what your ideal customers want to know.
It doesn’t mean they will never ask those things. It just means that it won’t even come up unless the other more important bases are covered.
We get so excited about what we have to offer that we lose all objectivity.
A little trick I use is that I ask myself before posting or sharing “would I say it this way if the product or company were not mine”?
Focus on how your product or service benefits your ideal customer and watch them feel more intrigued about it asap.

2- Work on your mindset and wealth consciousness daily
Our biggest enemy lives between our two ears.
We can get in our own way if we are not careful and that is why you must work daily to remember that no matter who says “no” to joining you or buying from you, there are still endless opportunities always.
This is easy to see at an event when you are being celebrated or see tons of other people who agree with you and your mindset.
But sometimes as entrepreneurs we get out into the “real world” and feel like a fish out of water.
The only thing that can save you and help you grow is your mindset.
This is where you are going to have to be extra coachable.
You have to do this daily.
I don’t care if you already read a book like “Think & Grow Rich”…read it again.
This is like taking a shower. No one would be discouraged from doing it daily.

3- Grow your personal brand
People don’t join companies, they join people.
You need to stop hiding and start shining so people will know why they should work with you.
Your network marketing company is your brand partner.
You partnered with them for business.
There is a time and place to mention that but when new prospects are learning about you and your company you want them to learn about you first.
You also need a personal brand to avoid people seeing your company product or name and simply running to google to find out about it.
They might do this because they are skeptical or too shy to ask you.

In that case, you run the risk that they find a bunch of negative Karens blogging about your company or product.
An even bigger hot mess would be that they love it but buy it from a link that does not help you make a commission for recommending it.
If you are struggling with this, then start with what you can- even if it starts as a positive quote a day.
People need your voice and your authenticity.
Never shy away from owning your story- you got this.
4- Build your email list
As much as I will always tell you to build a personal brand and I love connecting with people around the world on social media…
That is not the full story!
You need to take the conversation off of social media- especially if you have a network marketing business.
You never want to feel like you are chasing people or convincing others.
My favorite way to eliminate those feelings forever is to give my prospects a chance to self-select.
When someone signs up for something out of their own free will it is totally different from sending repeated messages.
Even so, that is not all of it.
You don’t own your social media pages or platforms.
At any moment that platform can become irrelevant or kick you out.
Don’t believe me?…
Look at MySpace, Vine, Snapchat, Periscope, and more.
They were awesome while they were fun and when people moved on to another platform, you found it hard to reach out to them.
The best way to enjoy yourself on social media without stressing over this is to have another way to keep in touch with others that you actually own.
My preferred way is an email list!
Not only do I keep in touch with my subscribers, add tons of value, and reach out to them no matter what mood the algorithm is in (that pesky code that decides who sees your posts daily and usually decides to show it to less than 1% of your followers).
If you have a network marketing strategy that uses email marketing, you will be able to set up a follow up system that people love and helps you grow your business without burning out.

5- Let your team take the wheel
Sometimes as a leader it is easy to slip into manager mode.
You want to help by doing this and that for everybody.
At some point, your team members need to make their own social media posts and host their own network marketing presentations.
They need to do their part so that they can own their success.
If you are brand new to network marketing and don’t have a team yet, then know that this also applies to your prospects.

For you to succeed you need space to run with people because you won’t get as far if you have to carry them all.
Imagine climbing a mountain with a friend by your side vs a friend on your back. What a difference!
In your network marketing business you need to let people grow and sometimes let them go so that you can keep winning and helping others who want to win with you.
If this part is not as easy for you, build on your leadership skills. You will always need those skills even if you are building your business online.
The best part about this is that the more you learn, the more you earn. And the more you earn, the more people you can help!
6- Have a duplicatable system
For you to achieve network marketing success, you undoubtedly need to have a duplicatable system.
You need a recipe for success.
No matter who joins or at what time of the night, they should have access to the best instructions to succeed.

If you do not have a system in place to train and prepare people for success, you will inevitably feel exhausted and burned out.
Not only will the system help people that you attract to the business but it will also serve as a baseline for you on what you should focus your time on.
Growing your business should consist of you always getting new customers. We believe customers are the key to a successful business.
And you should also recruit people into your network marketing business.
Many times we get comfortable recruiting people that we know or that we have achieved more than.
I am here to encourage you to network with and attract people who have achieved more than you in business and in life.
