When I first started my online business I was scared, exhausted, and in a serious hurry to make it happen so that I could put food on the table and keep a roof over my head.

I had big goals and a tiny budget. I had no internet, no cell phone, no credit cards, and I even traded my books on for store credit so that I could buy food and supplies.

The sacrifices I made were non-negotiable. I had to take a big risk on myself because I was no longer willing to live in sadness and fear while doing something I hated and that I wasn’t called to do.

I knew that the only reason I was stuck doing something I hated was because I did not know how to make my dreams come true.

I’m excited to share with you the same steps that have helped me achieve my goals.

Here are the 7 steps to creating and selling your e-course in 90 days or less:

Step #1:Select your topic and niche

One of the biggest mistakes I see people making is that they are trying to create a program about everything they know.

Write an autobiography if you want people to gain insights on your entire life.

But when it comes to e-courses, you need help people achieve a specific result.

Vague topics will lead to vague results in your online business.

Here’s an example of a vague topic: How to start your own business

Is it about franchising, MLM, financing, writing a business plan, fashion, or is it just a general training?

If you audience is questioning your topic, they are questioning you.

Here’s how we can make it more specific: How to start your own babysitting business with only $20.

By being more specific I am repelling the wrong clients and attracting the right ones.

Don’t miss this step when you get caught up in all the excitement of the “tech” part of an online business and buying tools.

Clearly understanding who your ideal client is, how you can help them, and what the need for your product is in the market place is essential for your success online.

Step #2:Record, edit, and upload your content

This is probably one of the most procrastinated steps.

My advice: Do not get caught up in the notion that you need more time, more equipment, or more  of anything.

Just create the content, record the training, and upload it to a site where it is protected (so only your customers have access to it).

More success tips:

-Create juicy bonuses that will help your clients get more success out of your program

-Do NOT upload your training to YouTube (it will not be protected even if it’s set to private)

-Be confident that you are the expert and own it as you train

-Be creative and find ways to help your students have more success (For instance, I create workbooks and share case studies to help my students succeed)

-Set deadline for yourself. You don’t want to stay on this step for months.

-Hire support. If you are not a tech guru, hire one. It’s no big deal. Be good at what you do and hire others to be good at what they do.

-Do not give your students information overload. Stay focused and give them what they need to get the results they desire.

Everyone is different. Some people record audio trainings, video trainings, or like me- simply speak over slides so that their audience can follow along as they speak.

The most important part of this step is that you make it happen!

Step #3:Create a sales page

You are going to need a way to share with people who you are, how you can help them, and what’s included in your program.

More importantly, you will need a way to take payments so that your ideal clients can join your program.

The most essential part of your sales page will be your copy.

Words can help people fall in love and they can start wars.

Think about what your customer is dealing with right now and where they would like to be and help them see that you not only understand but can help them get ahead.

There are tons of books on amazon that can help you improve your copy but there are two options that will be more fruitful to explore:

Option #1 your ideal clients

I surveyed my audience after hosting a successful webinar and asked them why they wanted XYC result and many of them responded that they wanted to spend more time with their kids at the beach.

In my webinar I had previously mentioned that learning XYC would help them get freedom.

I thought it was pretty similar but with an open mind I made the change when I hosted the next webinar.

When I specifically said that learning XYZ would help them spend more time at the beach with their kids (just like they told me in the survey), my sales increased 10X.

Pretty amazing right?

Option #2 Hire a copywriter

Perhaps you don’t have an audience to survey yet or you don’t have the time to develop this major skill in time for your launch.

There are a lot of skilled copywriters who will help you turn your ideas and feelings into words that make sense to your ideal audience.
If you are stuck in this area get some support.

It will be the difference between being popular and profitable.

Step #4:Create a phenomenal online workshop

I think many people get goosebumps when they hear the word launch.

Maybe they imagine a giant event with all eyes on them.

That’s a lot of pressure right?

Whether you think it’s scary, exhausting, expensive, or all of the above…. you’ve got to get your products out there in a profitable way.

I remember when I created my very first program. All I could wonder was…. where are all the people that asked me to create this thing now?

That obviously didn’t bring them back to me any faster.

So I had to figure out a smart and easy way to get the word out there about my programs without me having to jump up and down with a for sale sign and going against all of my beliefs by sitting there convincing people.

Since my name is Ilean…I build lean businesses.

Hence, you shouldn’t worry about some major elaborate launch strategy that is going to have your head spinning.

Here’s what I do to make thousands and thousands on launches without having any major marketers promoting me or millions spent on ads….

WAIT! Before you say “Oh yes…. I’ve been on one of her webinars so I know how she does it”…..

Listen up!

There are many things that keep people looking from the outside in from being successful in their own webinars.

Webinars are my go-to strategy to double my income, increase my sales, and impact more lives around the world (whether people buy from me or not).

But to do so (double your income), you don’t have to double your budget, be promoted by a celebrity, or have hundreds of thousands of followers.

I know because one of my students sold her top package on her first webinar with a list of 26 people without even picking up the phone.

Do you have ideas that need promoting? Programs that need to be sold? Value that needs to be shared? A brand that must be built?

The best way to add value and build a relationship with your ideal audience is by hosting webinars and teaching others what you know while also inviting them to continue learning from you.

Webinars have been instrumental in helping me get to know my ideal audience and growing my email list to over 39,000 subscribers.

Unfortunately, many people struggle when hosting webinars and think:

So many other people seem so far ahead of me. I’ve missed my window of opportunity.

I don’t know where to start and I feel embarrassed to ask for help.”

I’m freaked out by online marketing systems and structures. I’m not a technical person.”

I don’t want to be pushy or have to sell anything.

I don’t have a huge Facebook ads budget, so why bother?”

As a result, they either quit adding value and promoting their content or they start building their business the hard way.

Learn how to host webinars so that you never have to feel icky or pushy when sharing your message with others.

Step #5:Promote your online workshop via Facebook ads

Being a great trainer won’t change that you will need people to actually coach and teach.

You’ve got to keep growing your audience.

Let’s look at my husband as an example. He hosted one webinar with 4 people on it. Out of those 4, only 2 joined him in business.

Now those 2 have turned into over 1,000 people in his organization in just 77 days.

There has been so much growth in his business that visited South Africa for a month touring to grow his organization.

There is power in numbers.

But you can’t have one with out the other…..You need influence and you need an audience to influence.

Don’t let Facebook ads scare you. Here’s where you should start:

#1 Add value that is relevant to your brand and what you are promoting.

If you are a health coach OWN your expertise. BE the expert. I’m sure that you are brilliant at many other things. Just remember that it might be a little confusing for people if you don’t grow a consistent brand. Share content that will represent you as an expert.

#2 Be yourself.

There are so many copycats in the world. By being yourself you can stand out, add tons of value, and attract people that you would love to work with. On the other hand, if you continue to copy others you will never find out what you are made of because others will always be your ceiling.

#3 Master your copywriting skills.

A small business does not mean you must have a small mindset. How can you better communicate what you are trying to say? How can you get to the point faster so that your audience sees that you are what they have been looking for quickly?

#4 Advertise consistently

Facebook is a powerful tool for your business. If you use it once in a while, you will win once in a while. Refine your message, copy, images, and targeting as needed. Just keep showing up and keep being visible.

Step #6: Follow-up via email

If you are not building an email list, you are not growing your online business the smart way.

Solely relying on social media to contact your ideal audience leaves you vulnerable and limited.

Don’t leave people in suspense after your webinar! Follow up with value, give them a chance to keep learning from you, and grow your business.

One of the biggest mistakes people are making is ONLY hosting webinars.

That means that if people don’t buy from you live during the webinar, you tend to run under the covers and hide.

Whether it’s because people did not show up to your webinar, they left early, or you could have explained things better, you must still follow up and do your best at serving them.

By not following up via email, entrepreneurs are missing out on anywhere from 30% to 70% of additional sales.

The average person sees 2,000+ social media posts a day and gets 50 emails per day.

Would you rather be one of 2,000 or 1 of 50?

Why not both?!

Remember what Zig Ziglar taught us: “You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.”

Step #7: Automate

My strategy for passive residual income is simple & feasible.

It’s so easy to do, you can do it in your pajamas (just like an awesome lady boss I know).

The best way to make passive residual income is to turn your advice into an e-course.

An e-course will generate sales over and over again for work you did once.

However, please note that simply having an e-course will not help you at all.

You must have an automated system in place so that people join your email list, get tons of value, and buy your programs while you sleep.

There’s only one thing that has to happen before you make sales in your sleep- you have to make sales while you are awake!

To make sales while you are awake follow steps 1-6. When you have mastered them, you can automate steps 4-6 and make sales in your sleep.

It will be awesome to travel the world knowing that you are not limited to any one location to do what you love.

More importantly, your audience will not be limited to your availability and can get the support they need anywhere- anytime.
